How to Grow Bearded Iris

Establish a small mound of soil in the center of the planting hole. Bearded iris should thrive in your garden if you have a well-drained soil.

The rhizome should be center in the mound, roots down, and buried about 75% of the time.

Poor flowering results from planting too close together, so we recommend planting 12 to 24 inches apart. There are plants at the surface of the ground.

The top of the rhizomes should be seen, and the roots should be spread out below the soil.

One of the most common mistakes made when planting Bearded iris is planting them too deep, which can result in few or no flowers.

Make sure the soil around the roots is firm. Freshly planted rhizomes need to be watered thoroughly.

The removal of air pockets in the soil will help to give iris a better chance of strong growth.
