How to Plant Crocuses in Containers in Garden

Wait until it is cold outside, with a soil temperature of 60 degrees F or lower. In the north it will be in September or October and in the south it will be in October or November.

A spot in your garden that gets full sun or partial shade is a good place to put it.

Make sure water won't gather and stay at the bottom of the container by filling it with loose soil and finding a well-draining container.

Place the crocus bulbs 3” apart and 3” deep in the soil with their pointed ends up.

You can experiment with placing the bulbs closer together, but make sure they don't touch, since containers often have limited space.

You can water well once and wait for spring, or you can bring the containers indoors and allow them to spend the winter in a cool spot like a garage or basement.

The foliage shouldn't be cut after the crocuses have bloomed. Leave it until it is completely withered and yellow and then remove it.
